Nights!

I always seem to be doing them! No sooner do I recover, than I am back being a Vampire!
Although looking at this...A&E To Close At Night it seems we may be in for a break..sadly it does not forbode well for patients. I saddens me that money has played such a massive part in patient care,to the point of it affecting them not for the good, but for the bad. I can not begin to imagine how a mother will feel or how anyone can justify taking a poorly child past an A&E, when it becomes an urgent care centre, to arrive at a further hospital and have those precious minutes lost..and with children it really is minutes. I honestly feel it will have to take the death of one child to make them change their minds..as none of this is of benefit to the patients.

Centralising patient care? Elderly people, who struggle, are on a measly pension then have to go further afield to see loved ones, they get pushed around from pillar to post, treated like cattle and for what? Money...No continuity of patient care for nurses and patients alike..gone are the days when you could build a relationship up as no sooner have they tickled the bed than they are shifted to a completely different hospital..and infection spreading is down to??...cost-effectiveness?bah..it is absolutely crazy.

I have seen many a nurse, myself included, break down and cry before the start of a shift because of how bad it is. The pressure to get patients in and out of the dept before 4 hours is up has taken a massive toll on everyone. It gets to the point that staff are harassed and verging on the point of bullying with the amount of pressure placed upon them, and at what cost? compromising patient care? it is far more important to get a patient in a bed, or to click on a computer, than it is to spend that extra few minutes cleaning a soiled bed, or reassuring a patient or even just to make them a brew..

Something has to change and whether this government can do this or not I do not know..one thing they need to stop doing is running the NHS like a business..We are humans and people..not pieces of paper to shuffle around..You can not predict how each and every person is going to progress..nor account for human error,it happens,we aren't robots and so errors will happen. But I must stress that this is not intentional, but just human nature, no-one is perfect.

Ok so now I have had my rant as the news will start to spread and more scare mongering and misinformation flies around..it is more medical staffing that is causing trouble than it is A&E,yet that is what they are focusing on,I also do not like the fact the implication is we are compromising patient safety, and yet they have been quite happy for that to happen over the last year..hypocrisy..we are hard-working, caring nurses and doctors,we stay late, we come in on short notice to do extra shifts..we try to go that extra mile, and the thanks we get?....well the best thanks I get is the grateful smile from a patient, that is better than any paycheck received...well almost..
